19 September - Ripley Castle, Harrogate

This week Penny and Jason meet a couple that need help finding a quick, fun to drive car that is spacious, safe and good looking,  Jason Reports on the days events.

With a pretty healthy budget I had no problem finding some very attractive motors and some big savings along the way! I only needed to waft the back seat of a Bentley under Penny's nose for her to turn all posh on me, not that I minded, at least I managed to get behind the wheel of it and with a 6.75 litre turbo charged V8 its no slouch.

Despite being nice to Penny all day I knew she was up to something and when it came to offering some tips on 'how to haggle' I thought I was going to be up against a regular used car dealer... but oh no, the cunning Ms Mallory then wheeled out a 12 year old lad for me to try and get a discount on an Alfa Romeo he was selling. Never one to miss the chance to get a cracking deal I thought it would be a doddle to get the young chap to crumble on his asking price. How wrong I was.

The day improved somewhat when we came across one of my teenage kicks a Lancia Delta Evolution, a cracking 4wd turbo charged road rocket. I remember taking one in part-exchange years ago and going out for a blat in it. It felt pretty quick then and it still felt good today. And we also find out about cherished number plates. More and more people are shelling out on them and we wanted to find out whether they are an expensive 'vanity' item or a sound investment.

All in all a very busy day for Pen and I and one that we both thoroughly enjoyed, the only down side was having to hand back the Bentley keys and go home in my old Audi GT at the end of the day, oh well never mind.
