A female driver in California is thought to have drunkenly driven into a Sheriff's deputy as he completed a traffic stop at the weekend.
The San Bernardino county sheriff deputy was just finishing a traffic stop on Saturday night when his posterior was given a fright by a 56-year-old woman.
Valinda Crockett, from Adelanto, was believed to have been drunk behind the wheel when she ploughed into the policeman in her Honda Odyssey, reports the sbsun.com.
In fact, the car only came to a halt when it hit a fire hydrant 200 yards down the road.
Both the deputy and the driver had to be taken to hospital for treatment but both were not reported to have sustained serious injury.
Upon leaving hospital, Crockett was promptly arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence and causing an accident.
In related news, the US has developed the first purpose-built cop car, which is bulletproof and features cameras all around the exterior.
