Motorists in the central Indian city of Indore have been following the rules of the road thanks to an 80-year-old traffic warden.
Nirmala Devi had been a voluntary traffic controller for the last 25 years and was recently promoted to traffic warden by the local police commissioner, who was impressed with the way in which she managed the city's busy roads, reports dailyindia.com.
And, perhaps surprisingly, the new warden, who used to work in the film industry and in politics, is well liked by the local drivers - they even call her 'grandma'.
"She has a great zeal for work. We all call her 'naani maa'. We have been watching her handling the traffic perfectly for the past so many years," explained motorist Kamlesh Verma.
Last week, the Daily Mail reported that a traffic warden in London has taken to wearing a t-shirt explaining exactly how he feels about drivers who are irate about getting fined for illegal parking.
The t-shirt's slogan reads: "So you got a ticket! I don't give a Fcuk."
