A driver has finally been jailed five years after he took a car from a Reg Vardy showroom and drove it at his boss.
Inderjit Singh Kandola, aged 31, was a former employee at the firm's Leicester showroom when one day five years ago his boss asked him to give up the £10,000 Alfa Romeo he was behind the wheel of at the time.
Rather than vacate the vehicle, however, Kandola continued to drive, turned around in a cul de sac and drove straight at the manager, who was standing in the road.
The boss was forced to leap out of the way as the driver did not slow down.
He has now been sentenced to 11 months in prison because police had not been able to trace him until August this year.
According to the Leicester Mercury, Kandola had claimed that he took the car because his girlfriend had taken a fancy to it, but Paul Prior, defending, said that he needed to use the vehicle to get cash to a loan shark on time.
