Mitsubishi has released details of its new super-saloon - the Lancer Evolution X.

Due to be formally unveiled at this year's Tokyo Motor Show from 26th October, the rally model has been previewed to show a number of features that distinguish it from its outgoing predecessor, according to Auto Trader.

Featuring a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, the Lancer will be able to achieve 300 brakehorse power and boasts the Super All Wheel Drive Control.

The Evolution X is expected to smash 100 mph in five seconds and with be fitted with a suite of technological advancements.

Among the hi-tech elements are roll control suspension, active skid control and active braking control.

The conventional five-speed gearbox is joined by a six-speed semi-automatic option and the model will be fitted with lightweight body kit to make handling easier.

Mitsubishi is also expected to launch two Ralliart variants and a hatchback line-up in the near future.
